It began with childhood collections of shells and stones gathered on beach walks, tiny treasures that caught my eye.

My Story: A Lifetime of Noticing

Then years spent sailing deepened that habit of noticing. I started gathering driftwood and sea glass, drawn to the beauty of things weathered and transformed by time and tide.

Moving to Finland opened my eyes again. Its landscapes reminded me that wonder often hides in small details, the texture of bark, the curve of a frozen wave, the shifting light of a long northern evening.

Now those moments live in clay. Each sculpture carries impressions of water, stone, and forest, distilled into forms that invite you to pause and breathe.

My work explores nature’s quiet patterns. 

The way water moves, how wind shapes surfaces, and how light changes what we see. Each piece grows from curiosity about these rhythms and a wish to capture the calm they create.

Working by hand, I shape strips of stoneware clay into flowing, organic forms. The process is intuitive and meditative, guided as much by touch as by intention. Sometimes the clay leads, and I follow.

What matters most to me is the act of noticing. A ripple in the sand, a channel carved in rock, the changing light on a winter morning. These small details hold a quiet kind of magic. My sculptures are my way of honouring that beauty and inviting others to pause and see it too.

My path to art has been anything but direct: years sailing the Caribbean, then raising a family in Finland and working for many years with children whose curiosity and playfulness reminded me daily of the creative spark we all begin with. Those experiences taught me to embrace change, to look closely, and to trust slow processes, lessons that now shape how I work with clay.

Through my sculptures, I hope to create a sense of stillness within movement. They are gentle reminders that beauty doesn’t demand attention; it reveals itself to those who take the time to look.
